- 1 April 2025 – increase to the National Minimum Wage comes into force. The NLW for workers aged 21 and over will rise to £12.21 per hour, a 6.7% increase. For younger workers, the NMW will see substantial raises, with the 18-20 age group rate increasing by 16.3% to £10.00 per hour, and the 16-17 age group and apprentice rates both going up by 18% to £7.55 per hour.
- 2 April 2025 – the Electronic Travel Authorisation scheme for European Nationals comes into effect meaning all European Nationals (not Irish nationals) will need an ETA before travelling to the UK.
- 6 April 2025 – the controversial increases to employers national insurance come into effect on this date meaning employers will need to pay 15% (class 1A rate), an increase of 1.2%.
- 6 April 2025 – the right to Neonatal leave and pay comes into effect. This is hailed as a landmark new family friendly right, affording additional leave and pay to those parents who find themselves in this unfortunate and extremely difficult situation.
- 25 April 2025 – the deadline for responses to the House of Lords call for evidence on remote and hybrid working. On 5 March 2025, the House of Lords Committee on Home-based Working published a call for written evidence for its inquiry into the effects of and future development of remote and hybrid working in the UK. The deadline for written submissions is the end of this month.
