Every year on 8 March, International Women’s Day gives us a moment to recognise the achievements of women across every industry and community.
The first official International Women’s Day was marked in 1911, when more than a million people across Europe attended rallies and events calling for change.
Since then, it has grown into a global day of recognition and action. What started as a campaign for basic rights has evolved into a broader conversation about equality in leadership, education, health, safety and opportunity.
At Omny Group, we believe in a better way of doing business, one that puts people at the heart of every decision. And International Women’s Day is a powerful reminder of why that matters.
International Women’s Day 2026 Theme: Give to Gain
The theme for this year is Give to Gain. A simple but powerful one.
At its core, the theme recognises what many of us see in business every day: When we give our time, our knowledge, our advocacy and our support, we all gain. Stronger teams, more confident leaders, better decisions and therefore better outcomes.
Give to Gain challenges both organisations and individuals to think beyond personal success – asking us to consider what we are actively contributing to the progress of others.
That might include:
- Mentoring a colleague who is earlier in her career
- Sharing expertise to build confidence and capability
- Creating opportunities for visibility and leadership experience
- Reviewing policies and practices to ensure they genuinely support progression
For organisations in 2026, this is especially relevant. With constant change across technology and employee expectations, organisations need collaborative, confident and well-supported leaders at every level.
‘If I Could Give One Piece of Advice…’
To mark International Women’s Day this year, we asked a few of our female leaders across Omny Group a simple question:
If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring female leaders or women in business, what would it be?
Their answers reflect experience, resilience and the confidence that comes from leading with purpose.
Our female leaders share their advice
“I like the advice ‘What would you do if you weren’t afraid?’ in both career and personal life, so much unnecessary overthinking can hold people back.”
– Angie Crush, Head of Employment Law
“Seek truth, not praise. Honest feedback, even when it stings, is the fastest path to growth. But definitely not the most comfortable!”
– Liz Beck, Executive Coach and Head of Business Development
“Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness – know your limits and work as a team to exceed expectations.”
– Anna Cornwallis, MD, Stratton HR (Part of the Omny Group)
“‘A ship is safe in the harbour, but that is not what ships are for’ I often remind myself of this when I’m about to do something that’s outside my comfort zone.”
– Amanda Menahem, Group HR Director and Head of Organisational Performance
“My advice to aspiring women leaders is to be generous with your support, your knowledge and your encouragement. Personally and professionally, I’ve been fortunate to learn from people who were willing to share their advice and support along the way. That’s something I try to pass on, because when we help others grow, we don’t lose anything. We gain stronger networks and better thinking.”
– Wendy Read, HR Director
Crafting workplaces where women can thrive
International Women’s Day is one day in the calendar. But building an inclusive culture and high-performing workplaces is a year-round responsibility.
That means having the right policies in place. It means clear, fair processes. It means leadership that understands both compliance and culture. Most importantly, it means putting people at the centre of business decisions.
At Omny Group, our integrated support across HR, Law, Benefits, Health & Safety and Personal Finance helps organisations create strong foundations for inclusive growth. If you’re reviewing your policies, developing your leadership pipeline, or looking to align your people strategy with your long-term growth ambitions, we’re here to help you.
