Alex advises on a broad spectrum of topics such as TUPE transfers; contractual change processes; and large-scale redundancy consultations. Alex has also supported on both contentious work and change management, supporting a national client with the controversial issue of drug and alcohol testing in the workplace. He also has a niche in the education sector, advising schools, colleges and universities in respect of employment law matters, and is well versed in the nuances of that sector.

Alex works with Legal Director Suzanne Brookes and consultant Nicholas Moore, providing advice to employers in the shipping sector. In this role, Alex has tackled Employment Tribunal claims and advised on cross jurisdictional employment issues, including seafarer employment rules and regulations; national minimum wage compliance when working outside of UK waters; and establishing jurisdiction more generally for UK and non-UK flag seafarers.

Alex is a member of the UK Chamber of Shipping.

Alex is happy to undertake his own advocacy and has recently succeeded on several strike-out applications for clients.

Alex is noted for his grasp of technical points of law, pragmatic advice, and his client friendly manner.
